Detalhes bibliográficos
Resumo:This study evaluates the impact of the CAP (Common Agricultural Policy) 2014 – 2020 Pillar II Rural Development Programs (RDPs) on rural tourism across the EU (NUTS-3 level),measured through the number of guest nights spent at short-stay accommodations offered via collaborative economy platforms. Using an OLS regression, the analysis compares regions that received above- and below-median payments from selected sub-measures, which reveals a modest but often statistically insignificant positive effect in the post-treatment years of 2022 and 2023. A Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) quantifying economic benefits relative to program costs, highlights regional variability and limited cost-effectiveness. The results suggest the need for better-targeted funding strategies and enhanced investments in tourism infrastructure to overcome structural challenges.
