Memórias de luta, registros da guerra: a potência política das imagens em Spell Reel de Filipa César
| Resumo: | Dealing with the postcolonial in contemporary age implies thinking about not just in the eventual damages caused by the colonialist polity, but also to recall gestures and processes of its resistance. This is how Spell Reel (2017), a film produced by the portuguese artist Filipa César, in constructing her narrative from images from the Guiné-Bissau cinema archive demonstrates that, even though in process of deterioration, images resist in the time and its political power is beyond the facts that objectively they can transmit, it is in understanding its pathway in the history. Based on Filipa César’s films and research work on the contemporary history of Guinea-Bissau, we sought to reflect how the artistic interventions into images contribute to their mediation and comprehension today. |
