Resumo:This edition of Revista Entrelaces brings the dossier “The Brazilian nationalism in its various forms”. Several were the times when our nationalism surfaced and was shaped by Literature. In this sense, when we refer to this subject, we automatically refer to romantic Indianist writers and the Semana de Arte Moderna which took place in 1922, but few of us associate the regionalist writers who wrote about the bandits as representatives of this same sense of nationalistic jingoism. Because the bandits are usually associated with the image of the personification of evilness and barbarism, people despises up the work of authors that saw the bandits, cangaceiras and cangaço itself a nationalist note as lawful and valid as the Gonçalves Dias and José de Alencar‟s “Good Indian”. In order to enjoy the legendary figure in a different point of view, in this paper, first we analyze the cangaço per se, then its presence in Literature and in Franklin Távora‟s masterpiece, O Cabeleira.
