Summary:In recent years, in Brazil, the issue of urban mobility has gained increasing space, as its importance is increasingly recognized. The mode of transport of passengers on rails, due to its structural character of the territory, for the reliability and great capacity of transport that it provides, can contribute to the improvement of the accessibility, mobility and the quality of life of the populations of the urban agglomerations. In the state of Ceará, the transportation of passengers on rails is the responsibility of Metrofor. The “Linha Sul”, in Fortaleza, is the Metrofor line with greater relevance, both operational and investments. Thus, this research had as its first objective to make a survey of quality indicators adequate to the South Line of the Fortaleza’s subway, because this is the line of greatest expression in the metroferroviário set of the metropolitan region, currently. After a bibliographical consultation, an improvement is made on the indicators that are most appropriate to the South Line system, which were adapted according to the own operation of the Fortaleza’s subway and twenty indicators were chosen and divided into six areas. Among the six areas surveyed, the Operation area was chosen to develop its own method of calculation, in order to measure the service level of the South Line commercial operation. The next step was to collect data referring to the South Line operating area (in the period from October 2017 to February 2018) and apply the indicators raised in the research, in that area. The main conclusions are that in relation to transit time, the operation behaves efficiently, with a TTP note being 10.00. In relation to the HWP (headway) the grade was 6.67 and in relation to the RTD (regularity of the day) the grade was 8.33. The IGOP, the general index of the operation, was 8.41. Using as a parameter the table drawn from a study that describes a similar evaluation process for the Goiás VLT system, this operation note would be characterized as "Penalization with a reduction factor of 0.8" in case of transfer of State funds to management company (in the case of the VLT study in Goiás).
