Detalhes bibliográficos
Resumo:The transition from fetal to neonatal life is characterized by a series of physiological events unique in all domestic species. All anatomical and physiological changes during this phase should be well known, and respected then, facilitate the suitability of the newly born be the new environment. Knowledge of the peculiarities inherent in this critical period of physiological adaptation of the small animal newborn is crucial for the decline in high rates of fetal and neonatal mortality. Just as the advances made in biotechnology of reproduction, veterinary neonatology is a rapidly developing area with many possibilities with emphasis on studies of the physiological characteristics.
