Iracema: a beleza selvagem brasileira entre o poético e o prosaico, entre o mítico e o histórico
| Resumo: | This very study, as a main objective, José de Alencar’s main observations about the formal composition of the poem A Confederação dos Tamoios (1856), from Gonçalves de Magalhães. The aesthetic texts bring up reflections about the cearense writer’s thoughts, perceptively influenced by writers, philoshophers and criticists of his time, about poetry, metre and the composition of a work that’s set on a romantic national perspective. Such reflections will become the main principle of our analysis, that intends to acknowledge the poetical character of which is considered one of the main indianist works from Alencar, Iracema (1865); for such, we’ll take as main points the sensible images of this romance and the imagistic representation of the character of Iracema, while we seek to focus the relation between poetic and prosaic contexts, and between the mythical timeline and the historical timeline – such that end up in constructing a myth from Brazilian literature – that composes the romance’s atmosphere that narrates love between the young Tabajara girl and the Portuguese warrior. |
