Comparison between the aerobic power estimated for two field tests
| Resumo: | The aim this study was to compare the aerobic power estimate produced from the execution of two field tests. To do so, 226 men (23.0 ± 3.0 years) were submitted to the 20-meter shuttle run (20 m-SR) and 12 minutes walking/running (12 min) tests. Although a good correlation has been verified between the tests (r = 0.79-0.81; P < 0.01), as well as a good agreement among the found individual values (Bland-Altman plots), the estimate of the VO2max generated by 20 m-SR went higher the to have found in the 12 min test (P > 0.01), so much in relative values (46.2 vs. 45.5 ml.kg-1.min-1, respectively) as in absolute values (3.36 vs. 3.30 l.min-1, respectively). The results suggest that the 20 m-SR and 12 min tests, when compared, can to produce different estimate of the aerobic power in adult men. |
