Characteristics of scientists and gender effects
| Resumo: | The main goal of this article was to improve attitudes towards and understanding on the NoS, regarding scientists’ subjective characteristics and accounting for the effects of gender in future primary school teachers. Teaching-learning sequences were applied in a quasi-experimental pretest/post-test design. The results of the pre-test mostly evidenced very unfavourable and uninformed attitudes regarding the subjective characteristics of scientists, male and female. After the intervention, students demonstrated more appropriate attitudes, which led us to conclude that, in order to foster more appropriate attitudes and conceptions towards scientists’ characteristics, there is a need to include diverse factors, such as gender. |
