Competências mentais e ansiedade competitiva em atletas de boccia
| Resumo: | With the present research, we have tried to study the mental skills and the competitive anxiety of Boccia players. We have analyzied the influence of age, sex, time of experience, sports class, use of a ramp and competitive live, in relation to mental skills and state and trait anxiety. The sample was formed by 43 athletes (23 males and 20 females, and being 30 the average age (M=29.79; SD=6.95)), who participated in the several national competitional and world champions. In this study we have used the instruments at different moments. A series of questionnaires was applied out of the competition (Demographic data, SAS and ACSI-28) and the CSAI-2 was applied about one hour before the competitions. To treat the data we have used producers and statistic analyses through the computer programme “Statistical Package for Social Sciences” – SPSS for Windows, version 15.0. The results of the studies have shown that the goal setting and mental preparation and concentration are the mental skills with higher values and that coachability and freedom from worry are the mental skills with lower values. Comparatively to precompetitive trait anxiety, the results show athletes physiologic symptoms of anxiety according to the medium values of sub-scale somatic anxiety. While in the state anxiety, self confidence is the highest value. The study shows the existence of correlations between mental skills and state and trait anxiety; however, no correlations ware verified between the mental variables and age. We have verified the existence of differences, statistically significant, between trait anxiety, somatic anxiety and concentration disruption, and the sports class, being the athletes of BC3 class those who present higher levels of somatic anxiety and concentration disruption. In what concerns the use of the ramp, we have confirm the existence of differences statistically significant, between, the metal skills, freedom of worry and trait anxiety at the level of somatic anxiety. As to the competitive level, we have verified the existence of differences statistically significant, for the mental skills coping with adversity, concentration, confidence and achievement motivation, goal setting and mental preparation, peaking under pressure and personal coping resources, being paralympic athletes those who present higher levels of mental skills. In relation to the competitive levels, show are also significative differences for the sub-scales worry and competitive trait anxiety, trait anxiety, being the national athletes those who present higher levels of trait anxiety. We should emphasize that no differences, statistically significant, were found among the different mental variables and age, sex and time of experience of the athletes. |
