Detalhes bibliográficos
Resumo:Introduction: Bullying consists in acts of intentional and repeated physical or psychological violence, practiced by an individual or a group of individuals, provoking pain and anguish, often made on an unequal relation of power. The development of Information and Communications Technologies transposed Bullying into the virtual world, creating a new way of violence, Cyberbullying. The objectives of this work are to analyse the Bullying and Cyberbullying phenomena and verify their relationship with sociodemographic factors (gender, age) and psychopathology (anxiety, depression, stress and perfectionism), in a sample of adolescents. Methods: The sample is made by 548 young students from basic and secondary education (5th to 12th grades) from some public and private schools of the city of Coimbra. 271 individuals are female and 272 are male, with ages between 10 and 18 years old. It is a cross-sectional, observational and descriptive study, which data were collected through the implementation of a questionnaire. It contained sociodemographic questions and the Portuguese versions of the scales: Bullying (Silva et al., 2010); Cyberbullying (Pinto et al., 2011); Escala de Ansiedade, Depressão e Stress (Pais-Ribeiro et al., 2004); and Escala de Perfecionismo de Crianças e Adolescentes (Bento et al., 2014). Data were processed using SPSS Statistics, version 24, through the implementation of the most suitable statistic methods. Results: Bullying had a prevalence of 4,86% and Cyberbullying 41,61%. Globally, female gender and early adolescence (10-13 years old) revealed higher scores for anxiety, depression and stress in all types of Bullying and Cyberbullying. When a Bullying victim was a male, it presented higher scores for anxiety, depression and stress. Perfectionism revealed no relationship with Bullying and Cyberbullying. Discussion: Results corroborate many studies that already exist and complete an emptiness in this topic, with differentiation between gender and age, and implementation in a Portuguese sample. Conclusion: Bullying and Cyberbullying are a current and global problem, which need to be solved. Adolescents of today are the adults of tomorrow. In a growth and physical and metal maturation phase, it is necessary to avoid which leads to psychopathology. If this psychopathology is not properly followed and solved, it will accompany this adolescents through all life.
