Relatórios de Estágio e Monografia intitulada "Imunoterapia baseada em RNAm, uma abordagem promissora para o tratamento do melanoma"
| Summary: | The curricular unit "Internship" represents the last stage of the Integrated Master's Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences. The purpose of this document is to describe, in a first part, the internship held in a community pharmacy, more precisely in Farmácia São Sebastião. In turn, the second part aims to describe the internship in hospital pharmacy carried out in the Hospital Pharmacy Service of the Coimbra Hospital and University Center. The description of these two internships is based on a SWOT analysis, a critical appreciation that highlights strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. In addition, the document presents a third part referring to the monography entitled "Immunotherapy based on mRNA, a promising approach for the treatment of melanoma". Melanoma represents the skin malignancy with the highest mortality rate. This type of cancer has shown an increasing incidence in recent years, with a forecast for a continuous increase in the coming decades. Its lethality is related to its ability to form metastases in more advanced stages. In these stages, the therapy currently available is insufficient. The immunotherapy based on mRNA is a promising therapy in melanoma, due to its versatility that allows adaptations to different tumor antigens, rapid production and the possibility of being delivered by different delivery methods with special emphasis on dendritic cells (DC). Thus, the objective of this monography is to provide a current review of the different critical factors involved in this immunotherapy, innovations and results described in clinical trials. |
