Actividade Cromosférica em Estrelas Evoluídas
| Resumo: | The purpose of this research is to conduct a comprehensive analysis of chromospheric activity in evolved stars and explore how various stellar processes can impact the measured radial velocity of a star. The radial velocity method is widely used to detect exoplanets, but it is not without limitations. Stellar activity causes changes in spectral lines, leading to variations in radial velocity estimations and resulting in false positive results. Therefore, it is essential to understand the effects of stellar activity on radial velocity measurements to correctly interpret observation data and ensure the accurate detection of exoplanets. Studying and analyzing the star's spectrum is a crucial element in detecting stellar activity, considering the possible variations and changes in absorption lines. This research aims to identify the best indicators of stellar activity in evolved stars and to deepen our understanding of the relationship between stellar activity and their physical and evolutionary properties. Most studies that share a similar approach focus on dwarf stars, highlighting a knowledge gap in understanding the behavior of stellar activity in evolved stars, which provides a motivating factor for this research. To achieve the research objectives, this study will utilize observational data and theoretical models to explore the impact of different stellar processes on the measured radial velocity of evolved stars. The study will also investigate the relationship between chromospheric activity and other key stellar properties, such as age, metallicity, and mass. By identifying the best indicators of stellar activity and analyzing their relationship with the physical and evolutionary properties of evolved stars, this research will contribute significantly to our understanding of the complex processes that govern the behavior of stars and their impact on exoplanet detection. |
