Bibliographic Details
Summary:Hemophilia is a rare, incurable, and often silent disease caused by a deficiency of clotting factors in the blood, which can turn common injuries and lesions into dangerous bleeding. It manifests itself almost exclusively in men and is characterized by the absence or lack of clotting factor, causing frequent bleeding, especially in the muscles and joints.Current treatment approaches allow these complications to be prevented and the prognosis to be auspicious. The earlier the clotting factor replacement therapy starts and the more adapted the treatment is to the clinical status of the patient, the better the prognosis. The growing understanding of the pathogenesis offers different pathways for potential therapeutics. In this monography it is possible to observe a narrative review on the therapeutic approach to hemophilia and von Willebrand’s disease, as well as the costs associated with them, as well as the possible complementarity with Ankaferd Blood Stopper, as a topical hemostatic agent. As it is currently marketed in Italy as a medical device, the possible entry into the Portuguese market is also a point to focus on. Since its advantages are numerous, all the ways in which this medical device is marketed and what its possible uses, its all discussed based on research studies in the most diverse therapeutic areas. In this context, all the medicinal plants that make up the standardized mixture that is the Ankaferd Blood Stopper are described, based on the EMA monographs that are available.
