Bibliographic Details
Summary:Through fragments of writing, this essay weaves together the experience of a library fire and the ways in which to listen to this fire, proposing to think of listening in the desire to construct a place where one can experience resonance more than communication, thus focusing more on proposing such places (writing being one of them) than on effecting them. Entangled to quotidian accidents and to the project of inventing forms of listening to them, I find myself with the impossibility to act, and thus I concede to gestures that simply gather the scattered things and facts, and the provoked encounters, in an attempt to create unfinished images that give way to this craving to speak of a posture of listening in face of the world, and the other. These are modes of turning to. Turning to as a way to make the body move towards something; and to provoke a thinking of the place of this intimate estrangement, more than a thinking of the self or the other.
