Multidimensional view of migraine: bibliographic review
Publicationby Mendonça, Gabriela de SouzaOther Authors: Araujo, Lígia Viana de; Pacheco, Rafaela Costa; Bastos, André Pessoa Silva de; Costa , Lahuan Araujo; Lopes , Pablo Cleber Sousa et al.Origin: OasisbrObjective: To investigate the forms of treatment of migraine symptoms. Methods: This is a qualitative bibliographic review, which used the keywords "migraine" and "treatment" in Portuguese and English. It obtained articles from the Up to Date, Pubmed, Scielo and Medline databases between 2010 and 2020. Results: Migraine is characterized by the presence or absence of aura in addition to the appearance of throbbing pain of unilateral location in most cases with presence of nausea, photophobia and phonophobia. It, popularly known as migraine, is present in 15 to 25% of the population, being the second most common form of headache, behind only tension headache. There are many risk factors and mechanisms for the development of migraine. As well as, its possible classifications that are based on clinical diagnosis, based on them, the specific therapeutic approach is based on lifestyle changes, complementary therapies and pharmacotherapy. Conclusion: The treatment of migraine if applied at the right time prevents disease progression and ensures a better quality of life for patients. -

Clinical manifestations related to the nervous system resulting from COVID-19: an integrative review

Correlation between changes in the gastrointestinal microbiota with the onset and complications of Parkinson's disease: the role of inflammatory cytokines in the bidirectional gut-...
Publicationby Sales, Pablo Cleber Sousa LopesOther Authors: Sousa Neto, Almir Vieira de; Costa, Lahuan Araujo; Fonseca, Mikhail de Morais Veras da; Mendonça, Gabriela de Souza; Araújo, Ligia Viana de et al.Origin: OasisbrHumans developed a symbiotic relationship with their gut microbiota, a complex microbial community made up of bacteria, archaea, protists and viruses, including bacteriophages. The enteric nervous system (SNE) is a gateway to bidirectional communication between the brain and the intestine, mainly through the vagus nerve (VN). Therefore, environmental exposure plays a fundamental role in both the composition and functionality of the intestinal microbiome and can contribute to susceptibility to neurodegenerative disorders, such as Parkinson's disease (PD). This is a systematic review of the literature using the data bases PUBMED, Scielo and MEDLINE, using the descriptors present in the Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS): Parkinson's disease, cytokines, microbiota and gastrointestinal tract. It can be mentioned that the neuropathological characteristic of PD is the generalized appearance of alpha-synuclein (α-Syn) aggregates in the central and peripheral nervous systems, including the SNE. Many studies suggest that intestinal toxins can induce the formation of α-Syn aggregates in the SNE, which can then be transmitted to the CNS via the VN. PD is strongly associated with aging and its negative effects on homeostatic mechanisms that protect against inflammation, oxidative stress and protein malfunction. Thus, this study intends to carry out, based on analyzes of inflammatory cytokines and intestinal microbiota, how dysbiosis can contribute to the onset or complications of PD, promoting a correlation between clinical and laboratory manifestations and prognosis, as well as describing the main mechanisms causal factors that are still poorly understood. -

Pedagogical innovations in the COVID-19 scenario: an report from the “Mind Box” project
Publicationby Sales, Pablo Cleber Sousa LopesOther Authors: Sousa Neto, Almir Vieira de; Costa, Lahuan Araujo; Mendonça, Gabriela de Souza; Araújo, Ligia Viana de; Araújo, Vitória Stefanny Cunha et al.Origin: OasisbrThe coronavirus pandemic has extensively affected the most diverse stratums of society, especially the academic sector, causing a deficit in teaching, research and extension activities. Therefore, there was a need to develop and apply new tools, using Information and Knowledge Technologies (ICTs) and active methodologies, creating a path to the development of new skills and reconfiguring the teaching-learning process. Thus, this study is an experience report of the “Mind box” project as an example of an innovative tool that aims to promote teaching and university extension activities during the pandemic period incited by COVID-19. This project was active for six months and consisted of the production of a serie available in eight chapters that approached the neurosciences through themes of the theory of mind, consisting of a planning stage and an execution stage. The project had an approach based on active methodologies and ICTs in the new way to do extension. In this sense, the new information and communication technologies were used as innovative pedagogical tools, building scientific knowledge in a dynamic and interactive way. Hence, this model of project can be adopted for the dissemination of knowledge in other academic fields.
