A sociedade do espetáculo na contemporaneidade: uma análise da relação dos seres e a tecnologia através do episódio nosedive da série Black Mirror

    Publication
    by Lima, Thays Soares
    Origin: Oasisbr
The aim of this work is to analyze the analogy between the episode Nosedive from the Black Mirror series and reality: how social networks can interfere in the behavior, psyche and relationships of the individual in the contemporary society. The research starts from a narrative film analysis of the cited episode, based mainly on the studies of theorists Bauman and Debord on society. The work was divided into three chapters: the first is intended for the conceptualization of the series, the passage from the TV format to the streaming model and the themes that are addressed by Black Mirror. The second will bring the presentation and definition of social networks, the reflections of the use of interaction media and how connections are being established and affected by the virtualization of relationships. In the third chapter, the analysis occurs through the description of the scenes, correlating with the aspects of postmodern society and with the theories brought in chapters one and two. Finally, it was possible to establish affinities between the dystopian universe and the physical world to which people are inserted.

Color by Pairs of Pfister's Colored Pyramids Test in Children

    Publication
    by da Silva, Ticiane Rodrigues
Other Authors: de Lima, Thays Martins; Cardoso, Lucila Moraes
    Origin: Oasisbr
The colors by pair, one of the indicators of the Pfister test, are pre-established combinations of two colors that, when used together, suggest interpretations about emotional dynamics. We looked for validity evidence based on relations with other variables for the use of colors by pair with children. In the Pfister protocols of children between 6 and 11 years, the four most frequent colors by pair were Vd↓Vm↑, La↓Vi↓, Vm↑Br↑ and Vm↑Pr↑. When we compare the protocols of 172 children by age, older children tend to have more colors by pair than the younger children. In addition, we compared the results of the Zulliger test of these children according to presence or absence of the most frequent colors by pair. There were few differences in Zulliger’s performance associated with the colors by pair of the TPC, and more research is needed to understand the meaning of this indicator.

    Origin: Oasisbr
Abstract Objective The “Self-report S4-5 sensory and motor function questionnaire (S4-5Q)” is a short questionnaire that aims to assess the function of the sacral segments, S4 and S5, after a spinal cord injury (SCI), with the purpose of replacing the rectal exam test. The aim of the present study was to carry out a cross-cultural adaptation of the S4-5Q to the Brazilian Portuguese language and to investigate the test-retest reliability of this version. Method The translation and cross-cultural adaptation was performed using the methodology of translation and backtranslation. Initially, translations were done by three independent translators. Their synthesis was then submitted to an expert committee for analysis (SCI health professionals); then, the backtranslation to the original language was sent to the original author and, after all the adjustments, the final version was completed. For test-retest reliability, 24 individuals with chronic SCI were recruited (2 evaluations with an interval of 7 to 14 days between them). Statistical analysis was performed using IBM-SPSS (Version 20, SPSS Inc, Chicago, IL, USA) with data pretabulated in Microsoft Excel (Microsoft Corporation, Redmond, WA, USA). Reliability was tested with Cohen Kappa, and internal consistency with Cronbach α, both adopting p < 0.05 as significant. Results In the reliability analysis, the results of all questions showed almost perfect agreement (Kappa > 0.81) and good internal consistency (Cronbach α: 0.65-0.77) between the questions and final classification. Conclusion The cross-culturally adapted S4-5Q is reliable to be applied to the Brazilian population with chronic SCI to determine their S4-5 sensory and motor function.

    Origin: Oasisbr
The present study aims the development and application of an electrochemical method for simple coumarin determination in aqueous media by using a boron-doped diamond electrode (BDDE). The studies were carried out at pH 8.0 by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and registered an irreversible reduction process controlled by diffusion with the peak potential recorded around -1.6 V. The square wave voltammetry analysis (SWV) showed the reversible behavior of the electrochemical reduction of coumarin at the same pH. Additionally, the reversibility of the process was improved by increasing the solution pH. The chronoamperometry study showed that the coumarin reduction process involves two electrons. From the optimized SWV parameters, the analytical curve was constructed in a linear range between 0.5 × 10-5 and 10.0 × 10-5 mol L-1. The limits of detection and quantification were 1.5 × 10-6 mol L-1 and 4.5 × 10-6 mol L-1, respectively. The coumarin was determined in an aqueous infusion of Mikania glomerata, showing recovery values between 92 and 104%.

Fast and Inexpensive Synthesis of Multilayer Graphene Used as Pd Support in Alkaline Direct Ethanol Fuel Cell Anode

    Publication
    by Souza, Felipe M.

    Origin: Oasisbr
Multilayer graphene (G-US) and multilayer graphene muffled (Gm-US) produced by liquid exfoliation ultrasound were used as support for Pd nanoparticles with a load of 20 wt% for application in an alkaline direct ethanol fuel cell (ADEFC) anode. The multilayer graphene–based electrocatalyst (Pd/G-US) exhibited superior current density and less positive onset potential for ethanol oxidation reaction (EOR) than the commercial Pd/C (AA). Also, the Pd/G-US electrocatalyst showed the less positive onset potential for CO oxidation. In ADEFC experiments, the Pd/G-US catalyst exhibited a superior performance with 38 mW cm−2. The findings suggest that the defective graphene structure promotes electron transport, and the presence of oxygenated species increases hydrophilicity facilitating the oxidation of intermediates. Hence, the synthesized material can be considered as promising support for an anode in ADEFC. Graphical abstract: [Figure not available: see fulltext.]
