    Desenhando gráficos de funções reais

    Publicação
    por Silva, Victor Luiz da
    Origem: Oasisbr

Computing ODE symmetries as abnormal variational symmetries

    Publicação
    por Gouveia, Paulo D.F.
    Outros Autores: Torres, Delfim F.M.
We give a new computational method to obtain symmetries of ordinary differential equations. The proposed approach appears as an extension of a recent algorithm to compute variational symmetries of optimal control problems [P.D.F. Gouveia, D.F.M. Torres, Automatic computation of conservation laws in the calculus of variations and optimal control, Comput. Methods Appl. Math. 5 (4) (2005) 387-409], and is based on the resolution of a first order linear PDE that arises as a necessary and sufficient condition of invariance for abnormal optimal control problems. A computer algebra procedure is developed, which permits one to obtain ODE symmetries by the proposed method. Examples are given, and results compared with those obtained by previous available methods.

Automatic computation of conservation laws in the calculus of variations and optimal control

    por Gouveia, Paulo D.F.

We present analytic computational tools that permit us to identify, in an automatic way, conservation laws in optimal control. The central result we use is the famous Noether's theorem, a classical theory developed by Emmy Noether in 1918, in the context of the calculus of variations and mathematical physics, and which was extended recently to the more general context of optimal control. We show how a Computer Algebra System can be very helpful in finding the symmetries and corresponding conservation laws in optimal control theory, thus making useful in practice the theoretical results recently obtained in the literature. A Maple implementation is provided and several illustrative examples given.

    Faithful permutation representations of C-groups

    Publicação
por Piedade, Claudio Alexandre Guerra Silva Gomes da
The study of regular objects, such as polytopes, and their symmetries is a subject that attracts researchers from different areas of mathematics, such as geometers and algebraists, but also researchers from other areas of knowledge such as chemistry, thanks to the high symmetry of the molecules. An abstract polytope is a structure that combinatoricaly describes a classical polytope (a generalization of polygons and polyhedra to higher dimensions). Abstract regular polytopes can be described as a poset, as an incidence geometry or as C-group with linear diagram. A hypertope was introduced as a polytope-like structure where its group of symmetries is a C-group however it does not need to have a linear diagram. Grünbaum’s problem, one of the classical problems of the theory of abstract polytopes, not yet completely solved, consists in the classification of locally toroidal polytopes. The problem is extensible to hypertopes of rank 4 with toroidal rank 3 residues. Locally toroidal hypertopes are constructed from toroidal regular hypermaps {4, 4}, {6, 3}, {3, 6} or (3, 3, 3). The groups of these toroidal regular hypermaps can be represented as faithful transitive permutation representation graphs, which can be then used either to classify locally toroidal polytopes or to construct new polytopes/hypertopes with toroidal residues. In this thesis, a classification of all the possible degrees of faithful transitive permutation representations of the toroidal regular hypermaps and of the locally toroidal regular polytopes of type {4, 4, 4} is given...

Quaternionic symmetry of linear dynamical systems

    Publicação
    por Pereira, Ricardo
    Outros Autores: Vettori, Paolo
In this paper we study a particular kind of symmetry of linear dynamical systems, the quaternionic symmetry. After giving some basic notions about quaternions and behavioral systems, we introduce and characterize linear systems with quaternionic symmetry. Finally we propose a state-space realization algorithm for input/output systems.

Noether's symmetry theorem for variational and optimal control problems with time delay

    Publicação
    por Frederico, G. S. F.
    Outros Autores: Torres, D. F. M.
We extend the DuBois-Reymond necessary optimality condition and Noether's symmetry theorem to the time delay variational setting. Both Lagrangian and Hamiltonian versions of Noether's theorem are proved, covering problems of the calculus of variations and optimal control with delays.

Noether's theorem for non-smooth extremals of variational problems with time delay

    Publicação
    por Frederico, G. S. F.
    Outros Autores: Odzijewicz, T.; Torres, D. F. M.
We obtain a non-smooth extension of Noether's symmetry theorem for variational problems with delayed arguments. The result is proved to be valid in the class of Lipschitz functions, as long as the delayed Euler-Lagrange extremals are restricted to those that satisfy the DuBois-Reymond necessary optimality condition. The important case of delayed variational problems with higher order derivatives is considered as well. © 2013 Taylor & Francis.
