With this work, it is elaborated a rapprochement between the concepts of uncanny, by Sigmund Freud, and punctum, by Roland Barthes. The purpose is understanding that the photographic image, when cut by gaze comes as a demand of a strange but familiar and through which time is suspended. There is something on the image that pricks the gaze, opening a fissure between the referent and the image. It is also articulated anguish as an affect that does not deceive and which points to the subjects truth. Affect that can be mobilized through the punctum, concept developed by Barthes during his mourning period after his mother’s death, Henriette.

Neste texto tenciono comentar, em primeiro lugar, as relações intertextuais na crónica “Souvenir from Lisbon”, e nomeadamente as que existem com o conto “Las babas del diablo” de Julio Cortázar. Em segundo lugar, o meu propósito é analisar esta crónica como um texto que contém uma profunda reflexão sobre a escrita e a imagem fotográfica. Apoiando-me na noção de punctum (Barthes), pretendo demostrar que “Souvenir from Lisbon” funciona como um cartão-postal narrativo em que Lobo Antunes constrói uma imagem bidimensional da cidade pelo viés da literatura. Num processo oposto àquele que se observa no texto de Cortázar, Lobo Antunes faz de uma cena urbana uma imagem fotográfica estática através da escrita.

Based on two statements by Barthes, in La Chambre Claire, the first being the one in which he claims the punctum is the pinnacle of style, and the second the studium would be all that brings together generalized consensus, this study aims to establish the relation between these two concepts and the ideas of style and fashion. Thus, we seek to develop the correspondence between fashion and studium - emphasizing that the latter is close to the idea of ​​myth - and in the same way, that style is linked to the punctum - which is close to the idea of ​​writing. In addition, with the hypothesis of an articulation of the concepts within the Barthesian work, we also seek Barthes' look on the themes of style and fashion in his texts contained in the Inéditos Vol. III: Imagem e Moda, pointing out that the author who was one of the first to foresee the importance of fashion in contemporary society, including the strength of its mythology.

Irreversible interventions on the body have become phenomena that grow rapidly every day. Returning to the elaborations of Freud and Lacan, psychoanalyst Paola Mieli argues that every irreversible bodily manipulation has particular motivations that must be studied in the universe of the uniqueness of each person’ s subjective history. In this context, Mieli calls punctum the place of the body which is perceived by the subject as something that presents itself as a source of discomfort, generating an attempt to get rid of it. Thus, the need for an irreversible intervention on the body may aim to transform what is perceived as a punctum into what Mieli calls landmark, through an inscription as an erasure or mark on the body surface. In the scenario of issues related to the body and the possibilities of its manipulation, the demand for hormonal and/or surgical interventions by transsexuals stands out. This demand progressively acquires more repercussions in the encounter with science, which allows such subjects to have access to the process of gender affirmation through the use of technology. In this context, there was an interest in conducting research in psychoanalysis, which general objective consisted in the articulation between the search for physical changes desired by transsexual subjects and psychoanalytic propositions about irreversible interventions in the body. As specific objectives, we intend to: a) present the definitions and theoretical-clinical bases about the concepts of punctum and landmark; b) discuss the statutes of the body, psychic bisexuality, the Oedipus complex, sexuation and transsexuality; c) articulate the issue of bodily points that cause discomfort in transsexual subjects with the logic of the punctum; d) articulate the irreversible bodily interventions demanded by transsexual subjects with the inscription of the landmark. The methodology was based on the bibliographic mapping of psychoanalytic literature, having as mainstay the works of Freud and Lacan, as well as theoretical productions of contemporary psychoanalysts with a Lacanian orientation. We also worked on fragments of cases from our clinical experience that made possible theorizing about situations of subjects who, suffering the blows of their image instability, can present bodily characters that behave like punctums, being relegated to a state of embarrassment and immobility. We also inferred that, in some clinical situations, certain bodily features were constituted as traits associated with the male and female instances of the family lineage, in such a way that the request for body modification can present itself as an appeal to a furrow in the generational transmission. We also observed that some interventions on the body, often flanked by its tracks, could exert the effect of a landmark, coining, through a symbolic inscription, the stabilization of the body image. Finally, we delimit that our research is not intended to assume an inflexible stance, neither of defense nor of veto, regarding bodily changes, but to support the idea of proposing a time of speaking and listening, so that the transsexuals feel minimally advised to make their choice and to take ownership of their decisions. In this sense, psychoanalysis can make a pertinent contribution, as it deals with the uniqueness of each subject.

Il s'agit de l'action de cueillir de Ia pluie. La pluie se présente comme matiere plastique de recherche et c'est ce qu'on exprime dans ce travail qui entrelace les Arts Visuels et l'Éducation. De maniere à que l'impression et dilution de l'eau et de supports constituent le mouvement qui montre et parcourt, dans un processus d'expérimentations qui est un apprentissage. Pour ça, cette recherche produit des photographies et s'approche des notions de Ia gravure. Elle essaie des façons de rechercher avec l'art et Ia littérature puisque ces façons ont lieu à travers Ia poétique visuelle et l'écriture. Avec Roland Barthes, elle trouve dans Ia notion de Punctum le dédencheur pour Ia production d'un texte de désir, en s'approchant de l'expression française CoupdeFoudretrouvée dans les contes de Guy de Maupassant. CoupdeFoudrea comme figure l'Amour subit et immédiatpourquelqu'unoAinsi, l'amour, Ia pluie et Ia nuit sont des éléments qui ouvrent le texte et les images produites à des hasards et à des traversements non programmés. Dans cette rencontre entre le processus plastique et l'écriture, cette recherche a, dans Ia brieveté, dans Ia possibilité d'être incitée et aussi dans les marques qui restent et qui se diluent, son apprentissage. Apprentissage sans lequel, autant pour celui qui recherche que pour celui qui lit Ia recherche, un art ne se produitpas.

Esta dissertação encerra uma biografia do escritor mineiro Fernando Sabino (1923-2004); mais especificamente, um biografema, perspectiva biográfica idealizada por Roland Barthes em que o foco sai da trajetória diacrônica do biografado para ser dedicado a um específico fragmento de sua vida. O fragmento da vida de Fernando Sabino que motivou este trabalho é o romance-biografia 'Zélia, uma paixão', de 1991, livro publicado em um contexto conturbado, e que teve forte impacto negativo na imagem que do escritor se relegou ao cânone e à posteridade. Para compor o método com o qual se redigiu o biografema, os conceitos de 'punctum' e 'studium', também concebidos por Barthes, foram deslocados do seu campo de origem, a fotografia, para o campo da narrativa textual, e foram então mobilizados de forma a serem reproblematizados nesse novo contexto. Também foram mobilizadas algumas reflexões contemporâneas sobre crítica biográfica e saber narrativo, assim como foram desenvolvidos alguns conceitos próprios no trabalho, como o de'proximidade afastada' e o de 'imaginação criadora' - esta como um método mesmo para a construção do saber narrativo. Neste trabalho, elencou-se um conjunto de possíveis motivos para o escritor ter tomado a decisão de produzir o malsinado livro; também sugeriu-se qual seria o 'punctum' do 'retrato' pintado aqui sobre o escritor. Na pesquisa, foram realizadas entrevistas com jornalistas, escritores, teóricos, familiares e amigos de Fernando Sabino, além de consultas a quatro acervos literários que contém documentos sobre o escritor: Instituto Moreira Salles (RJ), Fundação Casa de Rui Barbosa (RJ), Biblioteca Pública Estadual Luiz de Bessa (BH) e Acervo de Escritores Mineiros (BH).

This study suggests ways to expand aesthetic experience through Roland Barthes’ concept the punctum found while creating the interactive artwork deBallution based on the audiences’ throwing activities. Roland Barthes defined the punctum in his book Camera Lucida as applying not a studium or thematic element but the elements of personal experience and memory to an aesthetic element in the photograph. This study develops a methodology for applying the punctum to interactive artwork based on the five symbolic elements of the punctum mentioned by Roland Barthes: String, Speck, Cut, Little hole, and Cast of the dice. It also confirms whether audiences actually experienced the five elements of the punctum and the studium through user testing conducted after making a new test version of the interactive artwork deBallution: Randomized Trip.

Parte-se da constatação de que, apesar da mediação que implica e define os modos de relacionamento entre indivíduos e real, a realidade é incontornável. No entanto, e tendo em conta a diluição da importância do referente enquanto forma de legitimação da produção de imagens na passagem do século XIX para o século XX, e apesar da emergência da fotografia enquanto meio que implica a presença do referente, defende-se que a relação entre indivíduos e imagens se funda, em grande medida, numa relação entre estas duas entidades, que prescinde do referente, e que é esta relação, quando específica, que pode justificar aproximações como a do punctum, de Roland Barthes. Nesta aceção, existe um espaço, proposto pela imagem, que permite que, para lá dela, o sujeito se possa projetar, e que existe como definição da imagem enquanto superfície e profundidade. Como contraponto, aproximase a situação das imagens à situação do corpo e, através desta comparação, defende-se que a importância e realidade do referente, como “coisa em si”, existe quando a imagem não consegue controlar o excesso que o referente é, tal como o corpo, quando não consegue controlar a carne, a torna visível. A imagem está para o corpo como o referente para a carne. As imagens de entes queridos, ou de atrocidades de guerra, são tidas como exemplo desta emergência do referente, como sintoma.

Este estudo investiga o papel da Fotografia como um instrumento de contradiscurso durante o Estado Novo em Portugal (1933-1974), sob a liderança de António de Oliveira Salazar e Marcello Caetano. A pesquisa tem como objetivo analisar as fotografias contidas no livro As Mulheres do Meu País, de Maria Lamas (1893-1983), no âmbito do corpo feminino que trabalhou como força motora da Economia, apesar de os discursos fascistas insistirem na composição de uma mulher para o lar, mantenedora do sistema capitalista e patriarcal. A análise visual das imagens permitiu a observação da contradição entre discurso salazarista e representação das mulheres através de pontos específicos trazidos das teorias de Roland Barthes (1915-1980) e Viktor Shklovsky (1893-1984). As conclusões sugerem que, além de seu teor propagandista durante este regime, a Fotografia funcionou não só como documento, mas como objeto artístico considerando o movimento no qual se inseriu: o Neorrealismo. Assim, ao analisar as imagens é possível perceber fotografias de um movimento que evidenciavam o conteúdo, mas também encontravam suas formas próprias de autoafirmação e representação.
