Dietholate no tratamento de sementes de gramíneas forrageiras
Publicaçãopor Cunha, Aline de Souza SilvaOrigem: OasisbrThe aim was to evaluate the protective effect of dietholate on selectivity of clomazone herbicide in forage grasses (Urochloa brizantha cv. Marandu, Urochloa ruziziensis, Urochloa humidicola, Panicum maximum cv. Mombaça and cv. Massai). The experimental design was carried out in randomized blocks, and the treatments were arranged in a 5 X 3 factorial scheme with, 4 repetitions. The first factor corresponded to safener doses applied to the seeds (0, 600, 1200, 2400 e 3000 mL 100 kg-1 of seeds) and the second factor corresponded to the clomazone herbicide doses (0,720 and 1440 g i.a ha-1). It was evaluated the following aspects: visual injury levels within 7, 14 and 28 days after emergency (DAE), tiller number and volumetric density of dry matter (VDDM). Dietholate provides protection to the phytotoxic effects of clomazone herbicide on the species Urochloa brizantha cv. Marandu, Urochloa humidicola and Urochloa ruziziensis, at doses of 600, 1.200 and 2.400 mL 100 kg-1 of seeds. The utilization of safener on the species Panicum maximum cv. Mombaça and Massai shows protective activity specially at doses of 600 and 1.200 100 kg-1 of seeds. The results for injury on the plants indicate significant importance of dietholate as seed safener, for the use of clomazone herbicide on pasture areas. -

Underreporting of non-fatal work-related injuries in Brazil
Publicaçãopor Cordeiro, RicardoOutros Autores: Sakate, Mirian; Clemente, Ana Paula Grotti; Diniz, Cíntia Ségre; Donalisio, Maria RitaOrigem: OasisbrOBJECTIVE: The implementation of work-related injury prevention policies has been hindered by underreporting of incidents among formal workers, and substantial underreporting among informal workforce. This study aimed at estimating the underreporting of work-related injury in a median-sized city. METHODS: A random survey was carried out among residences in the urban area of Brazil. Residents were interviewed about the occurrence of work-related injury to people aged more than nine years in the last 90 days. All incidents reported were double checked in the National Social Security Institute (INSS) records. RESULTS: There were 9,626 residences visited. It was estimated 79.5% (CI 95%: 78.8%-80.3%) of underreporting of work-related injury. CONCLUSIONS: Work-related injury reporting is poor in the study location and this may be occurring in other cities. Data suggest the need to build up information systems on Brazilian workers' health. It should incorporate methods, materials and human recourses necessary to recognize, store, analyze, and spread information to support injury prevention policies and promote workers' health programs. -

Chemical composition and release in situ due to injury of the invasive coral tubastraea (Cnidaria, Scleractinia)

Blunt cerebrovascular injuries
Publicaçãopor Cothren, C. ClayOutros Autores: Moore, Ernest E.Origem: OasisbrOver the past decade, the recognition and subsequent management of blunt cerebrovascular injuries has undergone a marked evolution. Originally thought to be a rare occurrence, blunt cerebrovascular injuries are now diagnosed in approximately 1% of blunt trauma patients. The recognition of a clinically silent period allows for angiographic screening for injuries based upon the mechanism of trauma and the patient's constellation of injuries. Comprehensive screening of patients has resulted in the early diagnosis of blunt cerebrovascular injuries during the asymptomatic phase, thus allowing treatment that could prevent neurologic sequelae. Although the ideal regimen of antithrombotic therapy is yet to be determined, treatment with either antiplatelet or anticoagulant agents has been shown to reduce the blunt cerebrovascular injuries related stroke rate. Blunt cerebrovascular injury is a rare but potentially devastating injury; appropriate angiographic screening in high-risk patients should be performed and prompt treatment initiated to prevent ischemic neurologic events. -

The effects of one-half of a soccer match on the postural stability and functional capacity of the lower limbs in young soccer players
Publicaçãopor Yamada, Ricardo Kim FukushiOutros Autores: Arliani, Gustavo Gonçalves; Almeida, Gabriel Peixoto Leão; Venturine, André Manrique; Santos, Ciro Veronese dos; Astur, Diego Costa et al.Origem: OasisbrOBJECTIVE: Most injuries occur during the final 15 minutes of each half of a soccer match, suggesting that physical exertion may influence changes in neuromuscular control and the body's ability to stabilize the joints of the lower extremities. The aim of this study was to analyze the effects of one-half of a soccer match on the functional capacity and stability of the lower limbs in young soccer players. METHODS: We analyzed 27 soccer players by evaluating the functional capacity of their lower limbs using the hop test protocol and their level of postural stability using the Biodex Stability System. The evaluations were performed before and after 45 minutes of game time. RESULTS: After the match, there was a decrease in the overall stability index (OSI) (F(1,23) = 5.64, p = 0.026) and the anterior-posterior stability index (APSI) (F(1,23) = 5.24,p = 0.032). In the single and triple hop tests, there was a higher functional capacity in the dominant limb compared to the non dominant limb in the pre- and post-game comparisons. CONCLUSION: The results of this study show that there is a decrease in the stability of the lower limbs in young soccer players after a 45 minutes soccer match, but the same result was not found for the functional capacity. -

Circuit modeling of rGO-doped scaffolds for spinal cord regeneration based on transient and AC analyses
Publicaçãopor Al-Maghrabi, LatifahOutros Autores: Martins, Patrícia; Silva, Daniela; Gil, Guilherme; Barroca, Nathalie; Murua, Olatz et al.Circuit modeling of scaffolds based on porcine adipose decellularized extracellular matrix (adECM) doped with reduced graphene oxide (rGO) for spinal cord regeneration is presented. The characteristics of the scaffolds capped with silver electrodes were studied in an aqueous medium through transient and AC analyses. In addition, cyclic voltammetry (CV) plots were obtained. The transient measurements were done using a custom current driver while the CV and AC measurements were obtained with an external impedance analyzer. The results revealed that incorporating rGO reduced the series resistance and the impedance at low frequencies of the scaffold. -

Impact of oxygenated hypothermic perfusion on liver transplantation
Publicaçãopor Pereira, Filipa ViegasLiver transplantation (LT) remains the only therapeutical option for end-stage liver diseases, yet it faces significant challenges. The growing demand for LT has make the exclusive use of standard criteria donor liver unsustainable. To overcome this, extended criteria donors (ECD) livers have become a viable option; however, their reduced viability increases susceptibility to ischemiareperfusion injury (IRI), further comprising graft function. To mitigate this, hypothermic oxygenated perfusion (HOPE) has been introduced as a strategy that perfuses the liver with a hypothermic oxygenated solution to improve ECD viability by reducing the impact of IRI. Despite its growing clinical application, the molecular mechanisms underlying HOPE and its impact on post-LT outcomes remain poorly understood. This thesis aimed to investigate the metabolic impact of HOPE on ischemic livers and identify potential predictive biomarkers of post- LT graft function in perfusate samples. Metabolomic analysis revealed that HOPE modulates several energy-related pathways, including aerobic respiration and purine salvage pathway, suggesting a metabolic shift towards oxidative pathways. Initially, reactive oxygen species (ROS) production increased, accompanied by lipid peroxidation, antioxidant systems release and elevated lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity. This was followed by a stabilization in ROS, continued lipid peroxidation, enhanced antioxidant potential, and stabilization of LDH activity. Correlation analysis identified associations between adenine, ribose, histidine, alanine levels and antioxidant potential, and donor/transplant features, indicating that liver response to HOPE depends on its functional status. Ribose, histidine and ROS levels, and LDH activity correlated with clinical markers of liver injury, underscoring their potential as predictive biomarkers of early allograft dysfunction (EAD). Overall, these finding indicate that HOPE appears to support metabolic adaptation and allows the quantification of perfusate parameters that may be used as biomarkers of LT outcome. Future studies involving larger cohorts, additional time points, as well as the integration of other omics approaches, will be helpful in improving transplant decisionmaking regarding graft utilization and post-liver transplant outcomes. -
