Cidade, governança e diversidade: contributos para a construção de um programa de pesquisa

    Publication
    by Oliveira, Nuno
    Other Authors: Mendes, Maria Manuela
This article has as main purpose to present a reflexive analysis and that is a kind of balance in theoretical terms on how diversity, of a cosmopolitan type, or superdiversity and has been requested by political decision makers, as well as part of the urban planning in the accommodation of immigrants in the city of contemporary times. In this sense, we analyze some of the main theoretical contributions that intersect the concepts of city, governance and diversity, in order to define some research axes that could support the construction of an intersectional research program that is based on these three key concept. This presents interesting heuristic potentialities that can be triggered in a national context given the scarcity of studies on the articulation between diversity governance and planning.

Aprimoramento do índice de qualidade de vida urbana: uma proposta aplicada na região metropolitana de Goiânia

    Publication
    by Lopes, Gislaine de Oliveira
    Origin: Oasisbr
The urban model as the locus of human habitation, materialized through the cities, in particular the large cities or metropolises, have, since the middle of the last century, been home to a large part of the world population. In Brazil, this scenario is not different, but with a significant population in the peripheries, most of the time without access to basic services such as sanitation, health, education and security. In the Metropolitan Region of Goiânia, such unsanitary conditions are repeated, even in small and medium cities. In this case, a differential could be distinguished from a better use of the environment and its ecosystem services, compensating and balancing the urban well-being of this significant population in the state of Goiás. In this context, this dissertation aims to improve the measurement of conditions one of the five dimensions of the Urban Wellbeing Index (IBEU), as measured by the Center of Studies of the Metropolis (CEM). Among the methodological procedures used are bibliographic surveys, census data analyzes and their spatialization, and data from remote sensing. The results show that the environmental dimension showed a better accuracy of the IBEU from the insertion of the surface temperature data, it is possible to observe that for some areas of weighting the drop in the values of the index reached 18%, taking the results that before they were between good and excellent, down and bad.

Cidades fictícias: o elo entre as histórias em quadrinhos e a arquitetura

    Publication
    by Marques, Geovane Umbelino
    Origin: Oasisbr
The art of storytelling through drawings arranged in sequence has always been linked to architecture throughout history. Through publications and researches that study these relationships between the two arts since prehistory and through reading contemporary comics, it is noticed that there are different ways of representing an urban environment in comics. This research discusses the different types of representation of human environments in the context of comics, seeking to relate them to the issues present in the architecture and urbanism theoretical field, such as the study of drawing, the recognition of architectural styles, the instigation of utopian thought, among others. To investigate these perceptions, the research occurs in an exploratory and descriptive way. Exploratory because it investigates how architecture and comics influence each other, and descriptive because it tries to describe the author's (in other words, the comic artist's) perceptions found during the assimilation of these two arts. For such approaches, the methodological process is composed of bibliographic survey, theoretical foundation, analysis of the most relevant comics in relation to the theoretical field of architecture, data systematization and indication of results. The expectation is to verify if the comic books really present themselves as a tool for understanding some theoretical approaches of architecture and urbanism, and if the representations of urban environments in the comics can help in the development of the critical thinking of architects and urban planners. This research can contribute to the strengthening of comics as ninth art, demonstrating that the graphic narratives go far beyond the niche of pop culture superheroes and villains. Thus, in an attempt to attenuate the distrust of those who consider the comic as a simple medium of shallow entertainment, the work will also contribute to the perception that the relationships between comics and architecture move across wider fields.

Práticas organizativas dos empreendedores culturais na constituição das cidades: compreendendo a produção e ocupação dos espaços da cidade por grupos de forró em Brasília, Distrito...

In this dissertation, I propose that the daily practices of organizations on the field of popular culture form policies of production and space occupation in cities that resist the logical imposition of the urban space planning. I strongly highlight that the cities are organizational processes, therefore may be based on the daily practices of the organizations that inhabit them. I propose a theoretic approach of the Practice-Based Studies (PBS) in the Administration area with discussions about cities, starting from the discussions proposed by Certeau (2008) having as an empirical context of research the organizational daily routine of cultural entrepreneurs. For the development of these concepts of organizational analysis, I carried a qualitative study in 2017 with a forró subjects in Distrito Federal, considered a popular culture movement. The choice of the organization occurred because the different subjects of forró are constituted by performative shows and events in different locations of the city of Brasilia, that makes possible to comprehend different spaces produced by the organization studied that comprises Brasília. The production of the empirical material for the analysis will occur from the observations of the participants that will be held on a daily bais of the studied organization, as well as interviews of the life history that should be done with the subjects of forró in Brasília. As contribution to the Administration area, I emphasize (1) the relevance of thinking the city as an organizational process; (2) the understanding that daily practices of organizations form policies of production and spaces occupation in the cities; (3) the relevance of thinking popular cultures as organizational processes of resistance against city planning logic; (4) the advance on the theoretical appropriation of Michel de Certeau works to organizational analysis.

Ensinar a cidade com a linguagem cartográfica: contribuições e potencialidades para o desenvolvimento do pensamento geográfico

    Publication
    by César, Ana Paula Feitosa
    Origin: Oasisbr
Geography is an important curricular component of Basic Education in Brazil, mainly because the field of studies about the city contributes a lot to our population that is predominantly urban. Although, the hypothesis is that these contents are worked without exploring all its potentiality or the possible critical readings that contribute to de development of students’ geographic thoughts. A possibility to overcome this challenge would be to integrate, on a more critical and constructive way, the cartographic language, on a didactic mediation perspective to reflect about the production of space e about the different reading about the city. Considering such elements, the objective of this research was to perform an investigation about didactic strategies that contribute to the city teaching. In this sense, the investigation had structured from an analyses of main theoretical-methodological discussion about city teaching, cartographic language and geographic thought. In sequence, an analysis was made of how a group of teachers of Goiânia/GO carries out content work in teaching cities, as well as elaborating a proposal for a didactic sequence that integrates the cartographic language on a construction of a geographic view to the students’ urban space. Among the gotten results from the documental analysis and interview analysis, it was verified that the cartographic language is used recurrently only as an instrument of localization of the urban phenomena, making it difficult for the teachers and students make more complex analyses, about the phenomena and the geographic situations inherent to its spatial practices. So, through the strategies used on the didactic sequence, it is observed that, when the city is thought from the contents articulated with the use of the cartographic language, in a critical perspective, it is possible to identify the development of the geographic thoughts. The expectation is contribute to the studies in the field of geographic education, mainly with regard to the city teaching and school cartography. The articulation of these two fields of studies have a lot of potential to the Geography teaching that contributes to the exercise of citizenship.
