How do companies communicate sustainability? A systematic literature review
Publicationby Borges, EduardoOther Authors: Campos, Susana; Teixeira, Mário Sérgio; Lucas, Maria Raquel; Ferreira-Oliveira, Ana Teresa; Rodrigues, Ana Sofia et al.Origin: Repositório Científico IPVCSustainability is a topic that is increasingly discussed in society and organizations, leading many companies to adopt communication strategies focused on this theme. The objective of this article was to identify in the literature the ways, means, or tools that companies use to communicate sustainability. This article was based on a systematic review of the literature on the topic, resulting in a final sample of 18 articles from 14 different journals. Seven potential topics were identified in the systematic review: (i) communication strategies, (ii) the relationship between communication and Citation: Borges, E.; Campos, S.; Teixeira, M.S.; Lucas, M.R.; Ferreira-Oliveira, A.T.; Rodrigues, A.S.; Vaz-Velho, M. Modelagem geofísica 3D de dados GPR em análogos a reservatórios carbonáticos com a utilização de atributos geométricos: estudo de caso na formação Coqueiro Seco, Bacia de Sergipe-A...

Spiritual Care Competence in Palliative Care: A Concept Analysis
Publicationby Coelho, JoanaOther Authors: Querido, Ana; Costeira, Cristina; Laranjeira, CarlosOrigin: IC-onlineCare is a multidimensional concept that includes spirituality as a dynamic and integrative aspect of human experience. Integrating spirituality into clinical practice enables a more comprehensive response to the full spectrum of human needs, which is why spiritual care competence emerges as an aptitude that fits the profile and skills to be developed by those working on care provision. Regrettably, not enough attention has been paid to spiritual care competence largely due to the lack of knowledge of professionals and what this entails. Therefore, this study aims to define the main attributes of the concept of Spiritual Care Competence in Palliative Care, identify its antecedents and consequences, examine its empirical referents, and clarify the conceptual boundaries. The concept analysis method of Walker and Avant was used. Main attributes were organized into three main domains: (1) intrapersonal resources, such as spiritual awareness, humility, sensitivity, confidence, wisdom, and intuition; (2) interpersonal resources, such as presence, active listening, compassion, and empathy; and (3) transpersonal resources, such as the ability to establish meaningful connections, assist in finding meaning, and explore hope. These domains can be nurtured over time but ultimately require professional maturity and experience. Antecedents of spiritual care competence include active engagement in care, formal training in spiritual care, and recognition of the individual's spiritual dimension. Consequences were identified for the person being cared for, the professional and the care environment and include suffering relief, reduced stress and anxiety, enhanced spiritual well-being, and lower healthcare costs. When spiritual care competence is intentionally cultivated and continuously developed, professionals advance toward the ideal of person-centered humanistic care, fostering better at the End-of-Life patient/family outcomes and contributing to professional satisfaction and personal fulfillment. -

Publicationby Encarnação, Diogo Veiga daThis report describes the experience of the curricular internship relating to the master's degree in sports training at the Faculty of Sports Sciences and Physical Education of the University of Coimbra (FCDEF-UC), carried out in the Palmeiras FC under-14 team. The main objective of the internship was to monitor, analyze, and intervene in the training and development methodologies of young athletes, aiming to contribute to the integral training of players and the team's sporting excellence.Throughout the internship, I participated in various activities, including training sessions, games, and technical meetings. Based on the experience acquired in the 2023/2024 sports season, a reflection was developed, supported by scientific evidence, where I sought to analyze and infer about my daily work during the internship. This work is divided into 5 chapters: theoretical framework of the internship situation; characterization of the club and knowledge structure of the sport; training periodization and planning and description of the sporting and pedagogical intervention; critical reflection on the internship period; and development of a research project. The research work carried out delved into the topic of identification and recruitment in the transition from youth to senior football. This study was carried out to contribute to the discussion of the transition to senior status, something that clubs have invested a lot in their research, given the negative results obtained in recent years. In addition, there is an attempt to standardize a player's most predominant attributes at this stage of his career and in which position they are most considered. These components were evaluated using two questionnaires, which received responses from 20 participants with professional experience. The results indicated a higher valuation of psychological attributes in relation to others, with a special devaluation of physical attributes. Regarding the specification by positions, it was concluded that midfielders are the position where they are required to be more complete. It was also possible to distinguish between general and specific attributes depending on their coverage by field position. -

Statistical approaches for the design of sampling plans for microbiological monitoring of foods
Publicationby Gonzales-Barron, UrsulaOther Authors: Cadavez, Vasco; Butler, FrancisOrigin: Biblioteca Digital da UPBSampling and testing for microorganisms in foods is a risk management strategy used to evaluate whether a food safety system achieves the appropriate level of control. Sampling plans can be derived to meet the consumer's and/or producer's quality requirements, and have been traditionally designed using classical acceptance sampling theory. This chapter describes in detail and illustrates the methodologies to derive the different type of sampling plans used for microbiological criteria in foods; namely, the two-class (based on prevalence, on concentrations, and with an enrichment step) and three-class attributes sampling plans and the variables sampling plans. The validity of the assumption that the log microbial concentration is normally distributed among food units with a variance that is approximately stable batch to batch is questioned; and, within this context, new modelling trends based on more realistic assumptions are examined that consider the clustering of bacteria, the intrinsic variability among food batches and the use of past monitoring microbial data. -

Fitness industry: the influence of service attributes in membership renewal
Publicationby Gonçalves, CelinaOther Authors: Correia, Abel; Diniz, AnaOrigin: Biblioteca Digital da UPBNowadays there are several scientific researches about factors that encourage intention to renew and consequently promote retention. Alexandris, Zahariadis, Tsorbatzoudis & Grouios (2004) consider expectations and the influence of satisfaction in retention with Murray and Howat (2002). Green (2005) focuses on motivation for the participation and commitment in physical activity. Bodet (2006) mentions that the quality is related to the member perception of results. Although the service attributes don´t have the same value and consequently don’t have the same influence in satisfaction (Bodet, 2006), it is necessary to understand the more significant attributes. -

Statistical Derivation of Sampling Plans for Microbiological Testing of Foods
Publicationby Gonzales-Barron, UrsulaOther Authors: Cadavez, VascoOrigin: Biblioteca Digital da UPBSampling food for microbial testing is a risk management strategy used to evaluate whether a food safety system is correctly implemented. Within-batch testing can be accomplished to comply with microbiological criteria or to assess whether the food production process is under control. Generally, sampling plans can be designed to meet the consumer’s and/or producer’s quality requirements, and have been conventionally derived by borrowing notions of acceptance sampling theory from classical quality statistics. This chapter describes and illustrates the methodologies to derive the different types of sampling plans used for microbiological criteria in foods; namely, the two-class attributes sampling plans (based on prevalence, on concentrations, and with an enrichment step) and the variables sampling plans. The chapter also discusses the weakness of the classical assumption that the measure of the quality characteristic (i.e., log microbial concentration) is normally distributed among food units with a variance that is approximately stable batch to batch; and provides an insight to novel modelling trends to produce more efficient and discriminatory sampling plans. -

Perceived image of Lisbon by foreign tourists
Publicationby Represas, Duarte Reis Brandão FontesTourism destination image is one of the most approached concepts in tourism scientific literature. It has become a subject of great matter in the tourism management field once it is considered one of the most determinant factors in tourist‘s choosing process. Lisbon is currently the most important tourism destination in Portugal and one of the top visited places in Europe. According to recent data from Turismo de Portugal, in 2012 Lisbon was the first tourism destination in Portugal with the largest number of visitors, suggesting an increasing interest for the city as a tourism destination. Therefore, this work aims to contribute for a better understanding of which are the most important components of the image of Lisbon as a tourism destination for foreign tourists. After a brief literature review, we decided that this research should be based on the tri-dimensional model, developed by Echtner & Ritchie (1993), since it involves not only a tangible and functional perspective, but also a psychological and holistic one, allowing a complete representation of the perceived tourism destination image of Lisbon. The results obtained confirm a strongly positive appreciation by the international community when it comes to evaluate Lisbon’s tourism destination image, including a good evaluation of its attributes, as well as the recognition of important unique holistic elements. -
