This article analyses the current situation of the use of the Internet and social networks in tourism promotion in Catalonia by the different existing regional tourism boards. The results obtained from a survey to the managers of Catalan tourism promotion entities and from observations show, on the one hand, that the use of new technologies is very unequal among the different entities, and on the other hand, that in a single year of analysis the use of social media by brands of each region has undergone a significant increase. However, representatives of Catalan tourism brands are aware of the significance of using social networks and the Internet to promote their destination because all of them have a website, and 78% of them have a Facebook profile, Twitter, and a Youtube channel. This study can serve as a tool to promote their destinations with new strategies via social networks that every day increases their popularity among Internet users.

Responsible for a new wave of democratization in the use of this mean of transport and for an increase of the competitiveness in the air transport field, they have also been adapting themselves to market changes such as the sustainable repositioning of traditional airlines who have been readjusting their business strategies in search for improved efficiency and productivity. This article seeks to demonstrate theevolution of the low-cost business model which has been rethinking its strategy, changing operational procedures and passenger service in order to attract new markets and client segments, and to demonstrate its importance for the air transport setor and tourism.

Despite its natural beauty and hospitality, Brazil occupies only the twenty-seventh position in the ranking of the most visited countries in 2017 (World Tourism Organization, 2018). To understand which variables can help explain this position below its potential, this article used a panel data model (random effects) from the period 2004 to 2016 based on the ten countries that most sent tourists to Brazil in that period. The results showed that the geographical distance and inflation harmed the Brazilian tourism demands, indicating that the geographic proximity promotes the tourist demand, and the level of controlled inflation also seems to boost the Brazilian tourist demand. On the other hand, the Gross Domestic Product, the border with Brazil, the number of hotel rooms, and the exchange rate were positively correlated. With this information, not only the Brazilian government but other Latin American countries will have more subsidies to develop strategies and policies that increase their position in the international ranking of the countries that receive the most tourists in the world.

Who attends drag events and why? A motivation segmentation study of South African audiences

Traditional theatre genres appear to compete for audiences in a competitive post-modern culture. This is most likely owing to the availability of a wide range of more popular entertainment- and leisure activities. Drag events, which have just recently become acknowledged as part of mainstream arts and culture, appear to be one such activity. This could explain why the attractiveness of these performances among audiences has largely been empirically overlooked. This study intends to fill a gap in the literature on performing arts, hospitality, and leisure by looking into audience members' motives for attending drag events and categorizing them into market segments. The findings offer significant insight into the leisure behavior of people who attend drag events, as well as suggestions for attracting the right people with the correct message and ensuring that products and services produced for and promoted to these audiences satisfy their specific needs.

The present work addresses the challenges of the José Saramago Foundation, as a space that honors the only Nobel Prize for Literature in Portuguese Language. This research allowed us to perceive that the Saramago Foundation is a space that seeks to praise the work and, primarily, the ideas of an author that left his vast legacy to the whole world. As such, it seems to be a privilege for the world to know that the center of this wealth is in Portugal and in Lanzarote, in the Canary Islands, being able to promote literary tourism, framed in cultural tourism. In this way, it was also important to understand the daily management of this space through someone who knows it so well, in this case, the director of the foundation. With this work, it was hoped to contribute to the importance of keeping an eye on the values that we inherit. More important than writing about Saramago's literary influence, this work contributed to recalling the author's will: the desire that all of us, all together, fight for the freedom of each and every one.

The effect that an increase on the workmanship’s quality in the tourism sector, has over the productivity increase, the improvement of living conditions and the economic growth is widely known. In this context, strategy in human resources, one of the key factors in achieving a competitive advantage, must be a stimulus to attract the most talented human capital and to develop its career in this sector, which will result in an improvement in the business performance expectations. The aim in this report is to obtain empirical evidence about the attraction and retention of the human capital with special abilities, in the Andalusian tourism sector (with special reference to Málaga and Granada), using educational disparity as a proxy. The methodology used in its analysis has been the statistical method, in the trend-based version, after categorizing the hotel establishments (in Málaga and Granada) using discriminating analysis of aggregate economic information most relevant to each enterprise. For the application of the statistical method, information from a survey done to hotel establishments and a Delphi analysis to experts and community leaders, have been used. The most relevant conclusion, in general terms, concerns the disparity between the assessment of the importance attached to the Human Resources Strategy and its development in practice. In this way, a dichotomy in the level of education can be perceived as an over-education problem, while at the same time formal training is insufficient for efficient performance at work.
