    Publication
    by Mouta, Marina Filipa Antunes
This paper reflects the result of the study case done in the context of the pedagogical internship to conclude the master’s in history teaching for the 3rd Cycle of Basic and Secondary Education, which has taken place at a High School in Figueira da Foz (Coimbra), throughout the school year 2023/2024. The internship was focused on two classes, one in 11th grade and one in 12th grade, respectively, and its main goal was to verify the impact of the use of printed sources, such as newspapers, for the learning (and consolidation of said learning) of historical content. The study focused on the more advanced class (12th grade), taking advantage of the fact that it is in this chronological space that there is a greater variety of sources and resources, but also for reasons unrelated to the investigation but to the progress of the pedagogical internship. This qualitative case study went through three distinct phases, equivalent to five activities carried out throughout the school year in the 12th-grade class, distributed as follows: a diagnostic activity, three activities to assess the student's progress; and a final inquiry. The activities were distributed as follows: a diagnostic activity; three activities to determine the student's progress; and a final investigation to assimilate some feedback from the students about the activities and the study that involved them.As the study showed, it is possible to get good results from using newspapers as the main historical source through different dynamics, in particular, to compensate for a few means, such as poor internet connection in the classroom or large classes.

Manuais Escolares de História: as Mulheres na História Ensinada

    Publication
    by Perdigão, Ana Marta Pinheiro

    Publication
    by Gomes, Cathleen Pinto

    Publication
by Fernandes, Lídia Maria de Almeida Tavares
This thesis focuses on the digital transition through the use of digital twins, analysing their relationship with the museum framework and their suitability to the concept of an evolving museum, with a focus on real objects and virtual objects and how they coexist. In the context of the debate about the materiality and immateriality, this project explores the complex relationship between object and culture, emphasizing not only his physic existence, but also the symbolic representations, historical and evaluative narratives that confer to the objects an asset value. Furthermore, it analyses the dynamic between the culture consuming public and the real or digital object, which not only represents a certain culture, but also acts like a catalyzer for the collective memory and community identity (McDowell, 2008). In a world of constant and rapid change, museums must follow with these changes, and their future should involve opening to the use of technologies in their museum work.Knowing that there are spaces utilizing digitization processes to preserve collections, as well as spaces that utilise technological elements for visitor engagement, we must look on how the definition and concept of a museum gives room to these spaces. As method bibliographic references were used, along with visits to three spaces, two museums and one tourist attraction. The readings focused on definitions and concepts, such as the various definitions of museums voted on and accepted by ICOM, as well as technological concepts. The spaces visited were: Quake, in Lisbon, a space that characterizes itself as a museum but its economic activity is a tourist attraction; the Ruins of the Carmo Convent, recently studied under the European Project HERITAGE WITHIN, which created a digital twin of the ruins and 3D images of the Convent before the 1755 earthquake; and the last place is PO.RO.S Museum, which, through rooms filled with technology, tells the story of the Roman civilization in Portugal. These visits allow a new look on what can or cannot be considered a museum and how the concept of a museum can be modified to recognize other heritage spaces.

Projeto Memória Viva: Inventário de Histórias na Universidade de Coimbra

    Publication
    by Barretto, Isabella Salviano
This paper presents the development of an oral memory inventory based on the combination of two distinct methodologies, with the aim of valuing and preserving the experiences of people within the context of the University of Coimbra. The Living Memory Project fits into the framework of studies on intangible heritage, highlighting the personal memories of those who experienced the university. However, it does not intend to "make" history in a traditional way, but rather to create a digital database that allows the preservation of these memories for future consultation and reflection. The research is based on three central concepts: "history", "memory" and "cultural heritage", which were important for the methodological choice and the approach to the protagonism of the narrators of their experiences. The Participatory Inventory emerges as a basic tool, as it provides communities with the opportunity and autonomy to build their own inventory. In addition, the concept of the Living Library was integrated in order to complement the first methodology. This model of direct contact between the authors of the memoirs and their recipients creates a personal connection and closeness through direct interaction.Throughout the work, all stages of the project's implementation are discussed, from the choice of marketing and dissemination issues, creation of a website and social networks, to the practical application through questionnaires and interviews to collect reports. Finally, the work addresses the results achieved and the public's reception, analyzing not only the numbers, but also the qualitative impact of the project. Reflections on its application and future potential are presented, pointing out paths for new ways of perpetuating memory and intangible heritage.

    Melancómica

    Publication
    by Cachim, Lia Padinha
Melancómica is a poetry book that seeks, in a deconstructed manner and with its modus operandi driven by intuition, impulse—and the poet's own sense of humor—to undertake a process of discovery, consolidation, and assertion of style. Through the interplay of everyday and literary language, as well as both creative and non-creative writing, Melancómica explores the possibilities presented by every deviation, every chance occurrence, beginning with the first: the collision between the words “melancholic” and “comic.” Here, the term “melancómica” expresses “a way of seeing the world through a movement of spirit marked by a pulsating irony, a gaze inclined towards the comic, yet combative against the melancholy constantly prompted by the abyss behind everything; more precisely, the abyss behind (or within?) language itself.” Within its pages, we witness the realization of the poet's humor, as well as that of her writing persona, which are both one and distinct. Divided into two parts, this book-project also explores the aesthetic possibilities of “melancomic” poetic creation beyond its comfort zone, drawing on the work O anjo do ocidente à saída do ferro, by Portuguese poet Natália Correia, to explore non-creative writing techniques. In addition to the idiolects that reveal the “melancomic” style of "the Lia that writes," other textual, extratextual, and paratextual elements consolidate the style, such as the creation of paragrams, the playful tone, the intentional line breaks, and a lighthearted disposition before poetry’s oppacity, among others.

Heroínas clássica humanizadas: o novo fio da reescrita do mito

    Publication
by Lima, Izabel de Rohan Rocha

    Publication
    by Bernardino, Carla Pereira
Within the scope of the second year of the Master's degree in Municipal Cultural Policy at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Coimbra, we have endeavored to develop a dissertation dedicated to the theme: “Network of Portuguese Theaters and Cinemas”.At the very first step, we decided to limit our investigation and analysis to the equipment in the central region of the country. In this process, the large number of accredited spaces in this region became immediately evident, standing as an example of the interest expressed in joining this network. We began by carrying out a social and political contextualization of the systems that preceded the emergence of this program. Then we tried to characterize the network, stating the objectives it aims to achieve, the implementation phases, using the legislation that has enacted it.In a second phase, we listed all the equipment, arranged it on a map, which would guide us more clearly, and proceeded to characterize these cultural spaces through the individual preparation of datasheets characterizing each of these spaces. In a third and final phase of this investigation, and because we considered it would add value and distinction to our work, we prepared four key interviews. We interviewed the RTCP, the management of CAE of Figueira da Foz, the culture councilor of Casa das Artes of Miranda do Corvo and an experienced programmer who works closely with this network. In these interviews we tried to understand what it means to belong to the RTCP, highlighting the positive points and expectations regarding this revolutionary programme.Based on these points, we aim at making a conclusive assessment of the implementation of this program and its articulation with the network's cultural facilities in the central region of the country.

    Publication
    by Pimentel, Alberto Filipe Soares

    Publication
    by Silva, Joana Sousa Gomes
The aim of this report is to understand how museums can relate to the communities in which they are present, using as a case study the relationship that the D. Diogo Sousa Museum of Archaeology has developed with its community. This analysis and study is the result of the curricular internship carried out at the Braga Archaeology Museum, as part of the conclusion of the Master's Degree in Cultural Heritage and Museology, at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Coimbra. In order to understand how this relationship can occur, we first present the concept of community, analyzing its versatility and how this criteria makes it difficult to define. Other possible criteria used to identify a community are also explored, as well as how they come about and how they develop over time. Subsequently, an attempt was made to understand how this concept emerged in the Museology field, identifying two possible causes: the emergence of the New Museology concept and the emergence of public policies that saw the Museum as a promoter of community cohesion and development. The versatility of the concept of Community, as well as the Power that the museum possesses, makes the relationship between these two entities complex and complicated, where even sharing this power with pertinent community groups does not equally distribute power all around. Some ways in which museums can relate to community groups are presented, as well as the difficulties and benefits that these contacts bring to both entities. After that the multiple relationships that the museum under study develops with the local community are analyzed, identifying the existence of a dichotomy between the technical part, which contacts closely with said communities, and the exhibition part where there is a lack of community presence. This dichotomy is analyzed and the possible reasons for said imbalance are presented. This study concludes with a proposal for a personalized guided tour, as part of a project developed during the internship, which could help the museum better relate to the local community.
